The email I sent in… What do you think? They are looking for someone with 3-5 years experience while I only have 1 year. Edited for tumblr to remove personal info, you will see () instead.
Hello, my name is Nicole (). My contact is 503 () and I am available most daytime hours to take calls.
I am interested in your job listing. I have experience in many different retail settings. I have about 5 years experience total, 1 year experience in a higher-end boutique setting working with clients one-on-one. I have worked for White House Black Market and Swarovski. I know you are seeking someone with a little more experience in a boutique than I currently have but I feel that I have great skill at both working with women and making it a point to celebrate beauty, and I am also skilled at selling and doing job-related activities. So, I do hope you consider me for this position. I am currently employed part time a couple days a week, but I am seeking a full-time job and will be leaving my current job upon finding a job that suits me better. I hope that job is with the ()!
I am interested in working at () because fashion intrigues me. There is always a story behind a shopper that walks into a specialty boutique and I love to unravel her sense of wonderment about the brands. I am very passionate about what I sell and part of selling fashion is selling confidence and beauty to a woman, not just an article of clothing.
My qualifying traits include just under one year experience at White House Black Market working one-on-one with clients from the moment they walk through the door, to fitting, and checkout. Every woman is different and requires different attention, from the ones who want you to walk through the entire boutique with them to the ones who wish to be left alone until they are ready to fit and knowing how to read a person is another skill in itself. I also have about 6 months experience with Swarovski, these jobs did overlap giving me opportunity to work with clothing and jewelry separately but in turn gain more knowledge and experience about the fashion world. I run a successful blog with over 1,000 followers and constantly touch on fashion as well as getting email updates about the high-end brands and whats going on in the magazines such as Vogue and i-D. I have a “lookbook” as well as a portfolio from my own modeling .
I believe that I will increase sales because I will be fresh in the door, eager to prove my worth. I am confident selling in an environment in which I have an individual goal or commission to meet. I make people feel comfortable by making a connection, and a comfortable client is more likely to purchase from me than if I threw the same pitch at everyone who walked through the door.
I am available all hours. I am seeking a full time position (or position that may become a full-time). I currently work less than 10 hours a week so with putting in my 2-weeks upon hire date, I will need slight flexibility. I love to work and enjoy putting in long hours. I hope my drive makes up for my lack in years of experience, and you consider me for this position.
I would be more than happy to bring my resume in and discuss an interview with you.
